MO’s Plate: Fruit Delight

Perfect healthy way to keep cool on a hot summer’s day.

Benefits of fruits on my plate:

Banana – Banana’s are not only for monkeys but they are high in potassium and low in salt, bananas are officially recognized by the FDA as being able to lower blood pressure, and protect against heart attack and stroke.

Blueberries – also known as the antioxidant super fruit due to its high concentration of antioxidants. Eating 2 cups of blueberries every day exceeds the benefits of all other types of berries combined.

Grapes – Grapes are not only packed with flavonoids and minerals, but vitamins as well! The high levels of Vitamin C, K, and A in grapes gives you a healthy boost to many of your organ systems, particularly your immune system, which means less chance of coming down with common colds, as well as more serious health issues.

Mango – Mangos are great for the skin, can be used both internally and externally on the skin. Mangos clear clogged pores and eliminate pimples.

Oranges – One orange contains all the vitamin C your body needs for the day. Vitamin C from natural food sources helps your liver to detoxify.  A healthy clean liver is  essential for weight management.

Watermelon – Watermelon is a natural diuretic which helps increase the flow of urine, but does not strain the kidneys (unlike alcohol and caffeine). Watermelons helps the liver process ammonia (waste from protein digestion) which eases strain on the kidneys while getting rid of excess fluids.
